Ballycastle SDLP Councillor and Chair of Moyle Council Dónal Cunningham has welcomed the Department of Education announcement which will allow the joint Ballycastle High School/Cross and Passion College Shared Campus project to proceed to the planning stage.

Councillor Cunningham, a member of the Board of Governors at Cross and Passion College who had been part of the joint delegation who met the Education Minister said

“The co-operation between Cross and Passion College and Ballycastle High School is proof that Shared Education works, both schools can offer a wider range of subject choice, facilities and expertise while at the same time able to retain and celebrate their own community identity and ethos.”

“The project which envisages two new core schools and two shared centres, one at Ballycastle High for STEM subjects and one at Cross and Passion for Performance and Creative Arts will further develop  and enrich the sharing and educational experiences of the pupils from both schools. “
