Reacting to news that £3.5m of NI Fire and Rescue Service funds allocated for building projects has not been spent, Ballycastle SDLP Councillor Dónal Cunningham has called for the proposed new Community Fire Station at Ramoan Road to be given urgent immediate priority.

 Councillor Cunningham stated

“Planning permission for a two storey state of the art, Community Fire Station was achieved in October 2011; the development has not progressed due to NIFRS budgets.

The news of a £3.5 m capital project under spend surely strengthens the case for the Ballycastle project to be progressed”
