A Day to Remember

4 06 2012

Ballycastle’s management of the Olympic Torch Relay has been praised by SDLP Councillor Dónal Cunningham who said it was a fantastic day long programme of events.
The day was the culmination of months of hard work and planning by the Council’s Sports Development department, lead by coordinators Grace McMullan and Damian McAfee, with the town’s sporting clubs and the Ballycastle Community Development group all playing a part.
“I am very proud of Ballycastle for coming out and supporting this event in such an incredible way–everyone in Ballycastle played their part. This has been a very special time for everyone in Ballycastle. We said from the start that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase the very best of what we have to offer and we certainly achieved our aim”.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout Ballycastle,as cheering people lined the streets of Ballycastle to watch as the Olympic Flame passed through the town.
