12 02 2012

Ballycastle SDLP Councillor Dónal Cunningham congratulated Antrim and Ulster hurling champions Loughgiel Shamrocks who qualified for their second ever All-Ireland Club SHC final after an extra-time classic at Parnell Park, Dublin .
The Loughgiel men will meet Coolderry of Offaly in the final on St Patrick’s Day.
In a pulsating encounter Loughgiel had led by 0-11 to 1-05 at half-time of normal time, but in a dramatic finale saw their lead pegged back to finish normal time all square at 0-18 to 2-12.
The Shamrocks restored their lead to 0-21 to 2-13, midway through added time, and pulled comfortably away in the second period of extra time adding six unanswered points.
Councillor Cunningham added “Many of us remember Casement Park in April 1983 when Loughgiel overcame Offaly opponents to win the Tommy Moore Cup- is history going to repeat itself?
